Greater San Diego Bangladesh Association GSBA is an organization to promote and enhance communication and cooperation, and build relationship between the Bangladeshi community and the American people. GSBA is a non-profit, non-political and secular organization dedicated to Bangladeshis in Southern California and in Bangladesh. Our objectives are to promote goodwill and understanding among the members of the organization as well as between the members and other ethnic groups in the San Diego Area, to help Bangladeshis arriving in the San Diego Area adjust to the social, economic and cultural conditions of this country. We like to nourish the cultural heritage of Bangladesh alive among the Bangladeshi residents in Southern California through cultural and educational programs and exchanges.
Achievements:

$1000 donation for fire victim in Bangladesh garment factory. The 2012 Dhaka fire broke out on 24 November 2012, in the Tazreen Fashion factory in the Ashulia district on the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh. At least 117 people were confirmed dead in the fire, and over 200 were injured, making it the deadliest factory fire in the nation's history. This event and others like it have led to numerous reforms in workers' rights and safety laws in Bangladesh.

$10,000 donation to ORCA to establish kidney dialysis center in Bangladesh, ORCA-USA was launched in 2002 as the USA Chapter of Old Rajshahi Cadets Association (ORCA) headquarter in Bangladesh. ORCA-USA is a not-for-profit, non-political, volunteer organization registered with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under Section 501 (c) 3. The organization comprises of alumni of Rajshahi Cadet College who reside in the USA.

$4,000 donation to BMANA to help poor patients in Bangladesh, BMANA is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, educational and charitable organization of medical professionals of Bangladeshi descent. BMANA was incorporated in Michigan in 1981. Since then 16 chapters of BMANA have been established in the United States.

$2,500 donations to Spreeha to establish a school in Bangladesh, Spreeha, originating from Bengali, means hope, intention, and strong desire. Spreeha Foundation, a Washington based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, engages deeply within urban slum communities to establish an atmosphere where the community feels enabled to exercise their rights and responsibilities.

$1,000 donations for minority victim in Nasirnagar, Bangladesh. The 2016 Nasirnagar violence was an attack on the minority Hindu community by Islamic extremists in Nasirnagar Upazila, Bangladesh. The attack left 15 temples and approximately 100 houses destroyed and over 100 people injured.

We participated several times “SERVE A MEAL” program at Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. The organization provides a “home-away-from-home” for families with children being treated for serious, often life-threatening conditions at local hospitals. We participated charitable donations and the assistance of caring volunteers and groups and provided free meals to families with hospital-issued identification.
